Territory

n the heart of the Colli Tortonesi, among hills, vineyards, and biodiversity. A unique environment that gives character to our wines and guides every one of our choices.

A land that makes the difference

We are among the highest and most unspoiled hills of the Colli Tortonesi, in the province of Alessandria. Here, the landscape is not tamed but authentic: rocky and calcareous terrains, living woods, natural pastures, and small villages that withstand the passing of time. Once, this area was a commercial and cultural crossroads as early as Roman times, where vines were cultivated long before wine became a business.

It is from this history that the vocation of Tenuta della Cascinassa was born: to rediscover the deep identity of a land still intact, where Timorasso can express all its strength and its connection to its land of origin.

Territory: Our Colli Tortonesi

At Tenuta della Cascinassa, in the heart of the Colli Tortonesi hills, sustainability is born from respect for the land that hosts us.

We apply circular economy practices to reduce waste, protect biodiversity, and enhance every natural resource, so that our wine may tell a story not only of quality but also of harmony with our land.

Sustainability and Territory

Caring for the land, day after day

At Tenuta della Cascinassa, every choice stems from a simple idea: caring for the land as one would for something precious.

We cultivate in respect of its rhythms, valuing its diversity and preserving its balance through measured, constant, and deeply rooted gestures. Biodiversity is an integral part of our work, and every element of the estate has a role to play — from the vine to the forest, from the animals to the grass growing between the rows.

We have chosen a mixed and integrated agriculture, where vineyards, pastures, trees, and animals coexist in a natural way. The landscape is not altered but accompanied. Production is not forced but follows what the land is ready to offer.

Our vineyards

Timorasso

Timorasso

Timorasso is an ancient white grape variety from Piedmont, native to the Colli Tortonesi. Low-yielding yet resilient, it was already mentioned in the 14th century. After a long decline, it was rediscovered in the 1980s. It produces mineral, structured, and long-lived wines, appreciated for their complexity and personality. It is mainly cultivated in the provinces of Alessandria and Asti.

Pinot Nero

Pinot Nero

Pinot Noir, a grape native to Burgundy, is an international variety known for its early ripening. It thrives in cool climates, where it develops delicate aromas. Also used in Champagne production, it offers notes of cherry, raspberry, violet, and game. Its color ranges from light to medium ruby red.

Barbera

Barbera

Barbera is a historic Piedmontese grape variety, mentioned as early as the 19th century. It thrives in the Monferrato area, producing wines with a ruby-red color and violet reflections. On the nose, it releases floral, red fruit, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with balanced tannins and good structure, which can vary depending on the aging process.
